External API Fallback

What external API fallback is, when it runs, and how admins can test providers before enabling them.

What it means

External fallback is an optional last step. It can process a file only after internal engines fail and only if the site and tool both allow it.

Admin controls

Admins can add providers, choose supported tools, choose supported file types, set timeouts, set monthly limits, and test provider readiness.

Privacy note

External fallback is disabled by default. If enabled, the provider's privacy policy applies. API keys are stored server-side and are never exposed in the browser.

Safe setup

Use HTTPS endpoints, environment variables for keys, provider tests, monthly limits, and clear privacy policy wording before enabling production traffic.
